HAPPY BIRTHDAY (tomorrow) to my... too cool for his haircut BROTHER!

{ i almost died when i saw this picture... for many different reason. most of all- justin's hair... second- my teeth.. and lastly- i could just imagine the attitude shauna was having. i was showing the picture to tanner and he said, "who's that..." pointing to shauna. he was serious. lol

really though, i'm going to ask what everyone wants to know... mom- who cut justins hair? }

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY MADDEX...

oh no, maddex is two! it has already hit- about 2 weeks before he turned two i began to realize why they are called "the terrible two's". just recently we started calling him "madditude"- it fits. all jokes aside though:

maddex is really a sweetheart. he loves to give his mommy kisses but not many others. he is shy- and doesn't like to be laughed at- even if it is in a good way. his favorite tv show is funniest home videos. he has never watched a movie before- he is way to active. he loves water and has started to swim on his own. he loves suprises. he also loves powdered donuts. he gives the browl scowl way too much. he still wakes up in the night screaming. he can drive a john deere like no other 2 year old. maddex is the smartest little boy- he knows exactly what he wants- and won't stop screaming until he gets it. :)

he had a great birthday party... thanks to everyone that helped, came or called. we love you all.

ok so it was a digger- i know, sad looking digger! it looked so cute when i made it- but by the time we got to the party it was bad looking... im not sure 106 degrees was the best for it.

maddex loves his scooter and rides it around our island all day long.

maddex turns two!

his big day starts from the minute he wakes up...

m's birthday breakfast...

the treats:

Dog-Bone Sugar Cookies: perfect for a puppy party. we used Crystals amazing sugar cookie recipe. i'm not a sugar cookie person- but these i'd die for. the icing... now that was another story- but after a couple of times we got it. they were very yummy in the end. 

Cupcakes: we had a lot to make for M's birthday so we had to get started the night before with the cupcakes. grandma and i had so much fun making these cupcakes. i got the cool idea off of jennie slade's blog. i thought the tie-dye look was so cool. after icing them... i topped them off with some handmade cupcake toppers. i loved how they turned out. they were a real hit. 

Puppy Cake: i made maddex's cake.. that is all that should be said. it is not perfect, and not quite like i planned, but it is cute.. and he loved it. 

Broccoli Salad: and then there is mom's famous broccoli salad. she made enough salad for a wedding. i swear she was cutting broccoli all day- and man does it stink up the house, but it is worth it because it was so good. 

Thanks Mom and Grandma for helping me bake all day... it was so much fun- I'll never forget it.

my sandbox:

Maddex loves sand so for his birthday we thought we'd get him a sandbox. As always... my dad came to the rescue and built maddex his first sandbox... which is waaay cooler than those cheap turtles @ "bbrus". My dad is pure genius I tell ya... he has a talent for building, fixing, and knowing how to do anything. 

This is how it all went down: Dad and I spent the day before M's birthday going to get lumber and all the building supplies. Then Uncle Justin came over and they went to town... it took them about 30 min. to build the whole sandbox and lid. I was amazed when they were done... it was perfect. My dad then stained it a dark stain that I picked out. We chose the best spot in the backyard and when morning came... which was M's birthday morning- we poured the sand in. Maddex was so excited- i think he was kind of shocked- and wondered he had sand in his backyard, but It makes me so excited that Maddex loves his new sandbox. Everytime we play in it I can't help but think about my dad and the hardwork he put into making it just for Maddex. It's so special to us... Thanks Dad!
