Mom of The Year Award...

Today sure has been an interesting day. We are babysitting for some of our friends and today the kids didnt have school. I woke up thinking, "I should make a good breakfast..." The kids said they wanted frEnCH TOasT! I know Maddex LOVES to watch me cook... he likes to be all up in the action... so I sat his bouncy chair up on the insland and buckled him in. That just wasn't close enough for Maddex- he wanted to be held... So being the nut that I am... (I have a hard time letting him cry) I held him while trying to make the french toast and talking to tanner on the phone.. He was grabbing at everything and I was getting overwhelmed so I sat him back in his bouncy for JUST a SEC so I could stir my mix...

In that split second that I sat him in there- forgetting to buckle him- :(i know, bad mom.) Maddex came tumbling out of his bouncy seat and his face went directly into my bowl of french toast mixture. I pulled him out quickly, but I couldn't help not to laugh when I saw eggs dripping off of his face. He was crying hysterically until I cleaned him all up...

I layed him on the living room floor and asked the kids to keep him happy while I finished making breakfast. A couple of minutes later when I walked over to check on him- he did NOT look like my adorable little baby Maddex-his face was covered in blotchy red hives- they were starting on his head and going down his neck. I FrEAKeD OUT... paniced- I could barely dial the number to the dr. - after explaining to him how my baby fell into my bowl of french toast mixture- he told me to come in right away... to make a crazy LONG story short...
They quickly gave Maddex a shot of steriods and loaded him up with some benadryl... after about 20 min.- he started to look better. After realizing he was going to be fine- it was then ok for everyone in the dr's office to laugh at what happened. :) The verdict: Maddex is more than likely allergic to eggs.

To top it off- When I got back to the house like 2 hours later - I was in the kitchen cleaning when the the little boy I am babysitting asks.. "So are you going to make some French Toast... " Um.. no. Oh yeah, and I learned my lesson for not buckling him in. I'm pretty sure I lost MoM of THe YEar AwARd! Tanner informed me "there's always next year..."

p.s. thanks grandma kathy and daddy for rushing to help. -Sorry I dont have a picture of Maddex with hives to top this story off- I didnt really have my camera in hand... and I wasn't getting one off of the interent b/c that is just gross... -

Ha! At least you were good enough to laugh at it. And it is great that you found out now rather then later when you might not of known what he was allergic to since eggs are in everything.

Also, i told my mom about this Maddex story and she told me i got egg on me when i was a baby and had the same thing happen. so good news is, he might grow out of it!
Also, even though i really want a girl, seeing pictures of Maddex and Brody makes me want a boy!

Do I need to come over and take that baby away from you? That is the funniest story I have ever heard. Sorry about the hives though! It was good seeing you guys on Sunday....come over again so Maddex can get used to me and won't cry when I hold him:o) Kelli
