The Color Run 5K

THE COLOR RUN 2012
at the beginning of january i started running. i wanted to lose weight and get into shape and i figured running would help me do it faster... and well, it sure did. i have never liked running and have never really done it before. but i would say now i almost love it. i signed up for the color run 5k in january. i was no where near ready to do it but i wanted to sign up for it just to push myself to stay focused on exercising. i wanted to start out with something simple that worked for me. so i started running everyday.. (yes, everyday other than friday and sunday) 1 mile for a couple weeks and then moved it up to 1.5 for a few weeks- then 2 miles. i run upstairs on the treadmill during presleys nap time, and it works out perfect for me. running and exercising was one of my new years goals that i have actually stuck with and i am so happy i did. i not only see a huge change in my body but i feel so much better.
i have more energy and life to me.
the color run was the perfect starter 5k.. it wasn't "competitive" and was more of a fun run- perfect for me. i had asked a few people to go with me and it didn't work out- so i went alone. on my way to the race i was more nervous to go alone than the actually race- so i leaned down and said a prayer in the car.. and as we pulled up to the light where tanner was about to drop me off i saw my friend, sarah, standing at the red light walking to the color run. so i hopped out of the car and we ran together. i felt so loved by my heavenly father at that moment.

I started out in white:

And ended up VERY COLORFUL:
*at every kilo they throw a different color all of you as you are running*
(just crossed the finish line.. i loved my little fans holding up signs. ha)
haha. maddex's headband makes me {lol} everytime i see this.
the "finish festival" was just awesome.

maddex went in "the pit" with me for a color throw.
he wasn't a huuge fan. but he thought it was cool.

like the cutest little girl ever.
she was actually in the race.
i love my supporters... thanks guys.
there were tons of families with kids, strollers, wagons and so forth in it. after seeing how fun it was- even tanner said
for sure next year our whole family would do it! :)
it goes to a great charity too!

summerlin snow day:

summerlin snow day. that's what they call it around here... they fill the park up with real snow, and then charge you like $10 a person to go down the hill a few times. not cool right. a couple years ago we heard all about it- got maddex all excited to go play in the snow.. not knowing it would cost our family $30 dollars to stand in line for 20 min. to sled down a hill. well this year... we didn't say anything to maddex when we heard about it. instead- grandma kathy called a few days later to tell us that there was still some snow in the park.. so i put on m's snowsuit in sun & 65 degree weather and we headed to the park to play in {SNOW!}
maddex had such a fun time.. even with this small amount a snow- i just kept thinking- he would die if he really saw a ton of snow. he loved it. he loved that he could actually throw a snowball at me and i didn't get mad. haha. and presley just sat on a blanket under a tree watching.
i know all you utah, and pa people think this is pathetic, but this is just how we roll in vegas. :)
we love our beautiful weather all year... and this is actually how most people here prefer the snow.. you play in it at the park- and then you drive home on nice clean roads in 70 degree weather. :)

he must have went down 20 times...
it only lasted about 5 seconds.

he was snow surfing.

i love that he can have fun with anything.
he didn't care there wasn't much- he knows no different.
it was just as good to him as anything.

presleys room.

welcome to presleys room.
have you heard people say, "do it before the baby comes or else it won't get done.." well, i should have listened. i've held off on sharing because it isn't finished (art & shelf hung), but i saw a baby room recently that inspired me to share my own- so here it is. as soon as i found out {she} was officially a girl- all i could think was {pink}. but after i calmed myself down- i had a better idea of what i wanted. i had a budget- of not that much- i did her entire room for under $500. this is exactly what i imagined it to look like. i wanted something clean and airy- not frilly or over the top. we used our previous crib. the first thing i got was my bedding. i wanted something plain and simple because i wanted to add color throughout the room with chair and dresser and i didn't want it to clash. i found a pottery barn white pique set on craigslist for $35.00. her sheet is from dwell studio. i then got the rocker, it was a another purchase from cl and i loved it. i knew i couldn't do the walls pink- it would have been an overkill. so i loved the idea of painting the walls gray, at one point i think we had 9 different shades of gray. but we ended up going with the most perfect one from sherwin williams.(i'll have to go check the can for the name).
i love sitting in her room- it makes me happy. i love to look around at every piece and know that i put my special touch on it and made it what it now is.
it's hard to get a whole room view.
so this is the best i could do-
the shading was so bad- i had to lighten it.

owl pillow from my sister. {p} pillow made by me.
presley loves to play in her crib. she is having a "tea party" with her animals. haha
(she loves her american girl doll from grandma kathy.)

i found my pottery barn glider on craigslist for $200
i got the pink covers at pbk's huge floor model sale for a total of $30.00!! it was meant to be.
above the lamp are the brackets for a white shelf.
and then all the fun stuff that goes on that.
also, i need to get some knobs for my lovely $8 di find.. maybe anthro or hobby lobby. i keep forgetting.
i found the mirror @ homegoods, spray painted it glossy white- $50
i sewed her bunting with left over fabric from the room- $3
i made the cornice above her window. we had left over lumber, i bought the padding @ joanns and the fabric off etsy- $15
i have started to embroider my lamp shade..
{you're the apple (iron-on) of my eye}. my idea.
cute little bear bank from goodwill- $1
my kids love to read books.
pillow on her chair is from this etsy shop- $30
the most lovely embroidered piece i've seen. $18 at the hancock antique mall baby. i love its colors, how old and unperfect it is and most of all its message- one of the best things i could teach my daughter is to be a true friend and to love and appreciate those around her.
her chandelier was a baby gift from grandma kathy. we love it.
it adds something special to her room.
i looked all over for a old dresser. i couldn't find
anything under $100. i knew from previous luck that if i was patient- i would find something. a few weeks later we pulled up to a garage sale in the community by ours and this beauty was sitting there for $5.00. i seriously started to open the car door before tanner even had the car stopped. i almost fainted. i could instantly imagine it all fixed up. i see things- remember the playhouse?
well, after lots of work to make it beautiful... knobs, paint, repair some parts- it cost me around $60- but i think it turned out perfect. exactly what i wanted. and i will always have a fun little story to tell presley.
all my frames that still need to go up.
some gifts, most of them are thrift store finds.
and yes, i cross stitched that cute lil' elle.
love those chubby legs, and that hair.

and those kisses, and those head bumps.
oh how miss those sweet sweet newborn days.. i find myself asking a lot lately.. isn't it time to have another one yet? i love my newborn babies- there is nothing in this life that will compare to loving a sweet new baby.
